Thakkali Kuzhambu
An easy peasy side dish out of tomatoes to go alongside dosa and idly.

- 1 tsp oil
- 3 shallots can also use a small sized onion instead
- 1 green chilli slit
- 3 tomatoes big sized, chopped
- 3 tsp kuzhambu powder
- 1 spring curry leaves
- salt
In a pan, add 1 tsp oil, 1 slit green chilli, 3 chopped shallots and fry them shallots become translucent.
Next add 3 chopped tomatoes and mix them till it becomes mushy
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, add 3 tsp of kuzhambu powder with 1 cup water and mix it well, to not leave any lumps.
Add the kuzhambu powder mix along with tomatoes, 2 cups of water, salt and let it boil for 10 mins in medium flame.
Add curry leaves at the end, It is done. The kuzhambu starts thickening over time.
- Use country tomatoes for this dish; if you are using any other variety, add a peanut tamrind to add more flavors (optional)
- You can also use sambar powder instead of kuzhambu powder but there would be slight difference in the taste.
